    The Facilities Engineer is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of assigned Veeco buildings and building-related equipment, security and fire protection systems, including the daily maintenance of PSP’s environmental health and safety standards to support the protection of site employees, buildings, assets, and the local environment.


    • Responsible for the overall preventive, corrective, routine and emergency maintenance of assigned Veeco buildings (Horsham), mechanical systems and EH&S equipment.
    • Provide oversight, schedule, coordinate, and perform maintenance and repair of equipment and systems including boilers, chillers, HVAC, fire detection and suppression, plumbing, electrical, process gases, compressed air systems and building security, including CCTV and card access.
    • Engage with landlord and manage subcontractors and service providers ensuring that business disruptions are prevented and that operations are efficiently run.
    • Ensure that all facilities are operated in compliance with all local and federal regulations.
    • Provide guidance and input to PSP departments regarding compliance with governmental environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Plan, build, and maintain facility systems for the labs and operations stability and efficiency.
    • Sustain and improve the performance of lab and operations safety, hazardous waste removal, and site sustainability.   Develop methods and execute changes to increase regulatory compliance and cost efficiency of operations.
    • Oversee facility modifications, including obtaining estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs and requirements (e.g., permitting).
    • Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and furniture layouts, communication services, and facilities expansion/consolidation projects.
    • Plan and coordinate internal moves and relocations and coordinate planning for upgrades to existing facilities and equipment, including the addition of workstations and offices and the redesigning of Veeco space within assigned facilities. 
    • Responsible for managing all phases of and requirements associated with facility expansion into new leases or consolidations out of existing leased space.
    • Act as point person for facilities emergency planning and crisis management events resulting from service interruptions, natural disasters or weather related emergencies.
    • Work with management to develop capital plans for equipment replacement and/or addition of new equipment and take the lead in executing capital project execution.


    Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or Industrial Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of facilities engineering experience; or equivalent work and educational combination experience.  


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Black Seal or higher boiler certification preferred.
    • Knowledge of EH&S, building systems, clean rooms and overall facility optimization
    • Experience supporting semiconductor capital equipment highly desirable
    • Knowledge in building codes and safety regulations required
    • Hands-on maintenance and repair skills required
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), interpersonal skills, decision-making skills and problem-solving skills required.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Strong computer skills and project management skills highly preferred.
